Alhamdulillah we managed to deliver a Braille Quran and white cane to hafiz Mohammed Anwar, the blind postman from.Haripur in Pakistan who was featured a few months ago in a news report.
Alfitrah Foundation hosted iftar for the teachers and students at SMPK Setapak
Alhamdullillah last night Alfitrah Foundation hosted iftar for the teachers and students at SMPK Setapak a secondary school for the visually impaired. The terawih prayers were led by our staff Firdaus and Abdul Majid. Our trustees Dato Hamid and Rafi handed over contributions to the students including vouchers donated by Jakel Store for Eid clothing . Also present was En Adenan Md Yusof CEO of Amanah Raya who also handed over duit Raya to the kids.
Cash gift for Eid to the visually impaired trainees and their teachers
Rafi and I went to the Gurney Training Center in Brickfields today to hand over duit raya(cash gift for Eid) to the visually impaired trainees and their teachers.
Part of the contributions came from last Saturday's iftar for the blind at HAK masjid in Sg Pencala. We heard stories of hardship - the Ustaz told us 2 of his 4 brothers ( all blind ) had just lost their jobs as telephone operators at AAM. One of the female trainees told me she is an orphan from Sabah but has been unable to get financial support from the government .
Quran memorisation camp in Gaza for blind students
For the last 5 years we have run a Quran memorisation camp in Gaza for blind students for 2 months during summer holidays . The children enjoy this very much and ask to come back every year. Life is very hard in Gaza after 11 years living under siege with undrinkable water and 8 hours electricity during the hot summer and the camp is a welcome respite.
Cost per child is USD180 or rm800 but you can contribute any amount to:

Puan Hajah Saudah representing Al Fitrah Foundation is donating a Braille Quran, a Perkins Brailler and religious books to Rafiuddin bin Mohd. Hisham, a blind tahfiz from Maahad Tahfiz Al-Bahiyyah

Rafiuddin is a former student at Princess Elizabeth School for the blind in Johor where he learnt braille. He has moved to the new school to enable him to become a Hafiz inshaa Allah.
