WELCOME CEREMONY FOR NEW STUDENTS OF THE TAHFIZ BASIC CERTIFICATE PROGRAM 2025/2026

On February 17, 2025, the reception ceremony for new students of the Tahfiz Foundation Certificate Program (SAT) was held at the Darul Quran Auditorium. Five students enrolled in the program, including one from the OKU category (visually impaired) and four from the Sabah Indigenous category. Abdul Majid bin Mohd Yusoff, from Al Fitrah Foundation, an alumnus of the Tahfiz al-Quran Certificate Program, gave an encouraging speech. The event was officiated by Mr. Azizuddin bin Mohd Hashim, the Registrar of Darul Quran. The SAT program, rebranded from the OKUMP program, started in 2008 for visually impaired students and expanded in 2017 to include various special groups. The program spans 12 months and focuses on memorizing the Qur'an (chapters 1-10) along with other subjects.

Learning New Skills

Amy is settling in well at Al Fitrah Foundation. Majid and the team are guiding her through various tasks, with Nani leading her in administrative duties and other responsibilities. These include organising the Braille Qurans, preparing materials for Ustazah Halimah’s weekly Quran reading sessions, and coordinating other Braille books for the Friday tazkirahs.

Amer has also taught Amy how to attach a comb to an embossed book, providing her with hands-on practice. Additionally, Amy is becoming increasingly proficient with the PC. Nani has introduced her to Al Fitrah’s annual activities, and Amy is eager to learn more about the foundation’s ongoing work with the visually impaired community.

Visitors from Kazakhstan

On January 10th, Brother Askar Shakirov and his mother visited the Al Fitrah Foundation, where they were warmly welcomed by Puan Sri Norma Hashim and Brother Abdul Majid. They discussed the Kazakh Braille project, focusing on improving the quality of Braille books and expanding the range of educational materials for visually impaired students in Kazakhstan

e-Brelle Laptop Handover at Kolej Darul Quran JAKIM

Al Fitrah Foundation donated e-Brelle tablets to three students at Kolej Darul Quran JAKIM in mid-January. The ceremony was attended by Ustaz Dr. Yusri Mazlan, the Deputy Academic Director, along with other representatives from the administrative unit.

Brother Abdul Majid, representing Al Fitrah Foundation, spoke about the importance of knowledge and the Qur'an, highlighting how e-Brelle can help students in their Qur'anic studies. Dr. Yusri Mazlan thanked the Foundation and reminded students that the Qur'an in e-Brelle should be treated with the same respect as a physical Qur'an.
