On 24 February 2025, Al Fitrah Foundation held a book reading session with visually impaired students from Setapak Secondary School. They focused on Strength from Within, written by Sa'diyya Nesar. The sitting, attended by 4 representatives of 3rd and 4th-grade students and 2 teachers, aimed to inspire and share the book’s powerful message.
They began with an introduction by a student supervisor of the School Resource Centre, followed by other attendees. The book tells the life journey of a disabled individual who draws strength from the stories of Prophets and Companions to navigate life’s challenges.
Key Insights:
- Mike: Covered the author’s physical struggles and how she overcame them, emphasizing resilience and survival.
- Majid:Focused on the latter chapters, stressing the importance of self-acceptance, and not hiding one’s identity due to fear of discrimination.
The session concluded successfully, with students eager to read the book. A set of Strength from Within was donated to the school library, ensuring that future students can continue to be inspired by the author’s journey during their group reading sessions.
