Thursday, 30 March 2023: Al Fitrah Foundation welcomed CEO Sheikh Shady Al Sheikh (Lebanon) and Sheikh Yahya (Gaza) from Imam Al Shatiby Association.
The visit not only strengthened ukhuwah (friendship), but also looked at the prospects of future cooperation amongst the stakeholders.
This non-profit organisation was founded in 2013 and specialises in teaching the Holy Qur’an and spreading its sciences to young children and the underprivileged in the Arab region.
There are several branches in the Arab region, and they are planning to set up a branch in Indonesia for the Southeast Asian region.
Most of their teachers are from Palestine. They have also opened online classes since the Covid-19 pandemic. There are ten visually impaired students in one of their branches in Lebanon.
Brother Abdul Majid enquired whether teachers from Al-Fitrah Foundation could join their online platform to teach visually impaired students in their branches if there is a demand. Sheikh Shady welcomes our involvement.
On the matter of sending braille Qurans to Gaza, it would be referred to their friends who are experienced in shipping goods to Gaza.
Brother Abdul Majid took them on a tour of the office and walked through the production and printing process of braille books, especially the Quran.
They also saw the thermoform machine, and were stunned because they had never seen diagrams like the ones, we produced for the prayer guide book. They were excited to bring back the Solat Guide to give to the visually impaired there.
It was a good session and before leaving, both teams exchanged souvenirs. They presented a copy of the Al-Quran from Al-Aqsa Mosque while Al-Fitrah presented three books namely Solat Guide, Al-Quran Karim Juz 30 and 14 Selected Surahs.
