Today we welcomed 3 teachers from Al-Basiir school of the blind in Mogadishu. The school was started in 2011 in response to the requests of blind students who were left without a school after the closure of a missionary school for the blind due to the dangerous situation in the area which resulted in the foreign teachers leaving Somalia.
We want to help develop this school by training the teachers to produce braille books and teaching methods. If you would like to help in giving them second hand braillers and laptops when they leave please give a donation.
Al-Fitrah Foundation is currently hosting some brothers from Somalia, Kazakhstan and the UK who are all involved in teaching the blind . Inshaa Allah they will gain beneficial knowledge and bring back braille Islamic books and equipment that will benefit the blind Muslim children in Somalia, Kazakhstan and West Bengal.
In these photos they are visiting the Setapak high School for the blind which is a boarding school for blind secondary school students.
Alhamdulillah this is the one of the benefits of membership of the International Union of Braille Quran Services.
